BAGAN DATUK - The Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) launched four new high-yielding hybrid coconut varieties today to increase the productivity and income of farmers and entrepreneurs in the country.
MARDI director-general Datuk Dr Mohamad Zabawi Abdul Ghani said the four new hybrid coconut varieties, namely Mylag, Marleca, Carena, and Careni, are capable of producing more than 25,000 nuts per hectare annually.

"MARDI has also collaborated with the Malaysian Kuwait Investment Co Sdn Bhd in developing the MARDI hybrid coconut seed garden, involving a 30-hectare area in Tawau, Sabah.
Meanwhile, Zolkafly said Perak has 7,505 hectares of coconut plantation with an annual production of 82,000 metric tons.

But who has any right to find fault with a man who chooses to enjoy a pleasure that has no annoying consequences, or one who avoids a pain that produces no resultant pleasure?
"But I must explain to you how all this mistaken idea of denouncing pleasure and praising pain was born and I will give you a complete account of the system, and expound the actual teachings of the great explorer of the truth, the master-builder of human happiness. No one rejects, dislikes, or avoids pleasure itself, because it is pleasure, but because those who do not know how to pursue pleasure rationally encounter consequences that are extremely painful.
